It has been well said that "sometimes a man is a physician...
Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald
It has been well said that "sometimes a man is a physician and a metaphysician at the same time." For example, there has been only one perfectly successful physician for the body in the history of the world, and that was and is the divine metaphysician, Jesus, the Christ. In Christ Jesus we find, "the true physician and the true metaphysician," and from his teaching and practice we iearn that man is governed by Spirit, Mind, or the one infinite and Holy Spirit. This, then, is the Holy One of Israel, the infinite God; and the first commandment is, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (or "besides me").
Now if one comes "to believe in mental healing" by psychology, or by suggestive therapeutics, then if such systems are based on the premise of other minds, spirits, or gods, besides the one infinite Mind, Spirit, God, and if it is true, as the Bible says, that "God is Spirit," and that there is one God, then there is but one Spirit, the Holy One, or the Spirit of Christ, or the divine Mind of the Master. For, says Paul, "We have the mind of Christ," and again, "be of the same Mind." But in teaching the oneness and infinity of Mind we do not rob man of individual mind, but bring him into communion with the one Mind of all. It is this union with the infinite Mind that Christ referred to when he said, "I and My Father are one."
In Christian Science the good news of the unity and perfection of Mind and idea, or God and man, is again proclaimed; and the kingdom of good Mind and good ideas is preached to mankind to free them from the usurped dominion of evil mind and evil thoughts, which war against the Spirit and spiritual ideas and which are overcome and cast out by the good thoughts of the Christ-mind.
