Christian Scientists are neither teaching nor practising the nonsense that "your body does not exist," and that in case of accident you need no help. No Christian Scientist denies the existence of a single object in the universe, but opinions may differ as to the nature of matter.

As far as my reading has gone, I have never found any satisfactory definition of matter, except in the Christian Science text-book, and there is much to show that even natural scientists are tending to define matter in terms of mind.

Science is classified knowledge, but there are vast areas of knowledge which are conceded to be inaccessible to the physical senses. The whole domain of what are called abstract ideas is outside of their range. Christianity teaches that God is the creator and first cause of all that is, and Jesus said. "God is a Spirit" (John, 4:34, R. V.).
