Christian Science

Braintree (Mass.) Observer

We have attend the services of the Christian Scientists. We have always found their meetings full of intelligent, well-dressed, attractive people, a little above the average. Without entering into any discussion as to the merits of Christian Science as a cure for disease, we desire simply to state what we have heard in these meetings.

During a period of perhaps one hour sometimes ten or fifteen people rise and offer testimony as to the benefits of the teachings of Christian Science. These testifiers are sometimes men and sometimes women, seldom boys or girls. They mostly refer to physical maladies that have been cured. Their statements are along similar lines.

Briefly summarized, they are to the effect that some chronic ailment had dragged them down; some moral turpitude had beset their life. Church and doctor had failed them. The evangelical religion and drugs had alike failed to reach the case. Since making Christian Science a study they had been restored to strength of body and peace of mind. Father and Mother, brother and sister, rise quietly and give these testimonials in the most solemn and sincere manner imaginable.
