Up to the month of December last I was using hot baths, hot fomentations, and other remedies. On receiving the Sentinels and Journals in the month of January. I ceased using them all. I received Science and Health on the 18th of February last and took up study there and then. God bless the dear brother who sent it to me, for it has done wonders for me. It has done for me more than I am capable of telling. An organ which has been out of its place for years through an accident, has been made right. Nervousness and many other troubles are gone, thanks be to God. Two weeks ago I had a severe attack dyspepsia for two days and two nights. I went about my duty as usual, without telling any one my sufferings, although they were severe.
I was often tempted even in my slumbers to use a material remedy, but I held to Truth. In that struggle I held on to these words, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made." I held to Truth as recommended in Science and Health, understanding through its teachings that sickness is only a belief of mortal mind which is to be dismissed "with sudden dismissal" (Science and Health, p. 218). Finding that I was sore tempted with this belief. I said, The Lord will not suffer me to be tempted above that I am able to bear. At those words the error fled.
