Truth is indeed ever ready to banish the false sense of...
Truth is indeed ever ready to banish the false sense of discord. As we apprehend the light, even in a small degree, fear, hate, and anger all disappear.
This I have had occasion to prove for myself. As a college student, I was recently brought face to face with a very harassing sense of inharmony in one of my classes. Extreme irritability and expression of bitter sarcasm on the part of the professor in charge tended to arouse a strong sense of fear and ill-will among his students. The studies being quite difficult, it made matters seemingly worse.
From the first I strove to see the reality of harmony, the falsity of discord, and the perfect man, reflecting only God, Love. Each time that I entered the class I clung steadfastly to these thoughts, and each time there came instead of jarring discord a most satisfactory condition of peace. The recitations passed with far less friction than formerly, and to me there came still more clearly the "sweet and certain sense that God is Love" (Science and Health, p. 569).—Philip S. Barto, Urbana, Ill.
