When my first baby was born, I developed kidney trouble in a very severe form. My physician was greatly alarmed and fearing for my life, gave me the usual treatment for such a case, put me on a milk diet, had me take vapor baths every night, drink only distilled water, and I had medicine for every hour in the day. I was perfectly miserable all the time and for the last two weeks before my little one came, I rested neither day nor night, suffering in many ways, especially from very severe headaches, and was so weak I could hardly stand.

Finally, when my boy was somewhat prematurely born, he was a poor, weak, delicate little creature, and lived only three days. I came near to death at his birth, and my physician worked over me for hours and at last sent for another doctor before I was restored.

My eyes also were affected — so much so that I could not distinguish the faces of those around my bedside. I was a long while recovering and never became entirely well until treated by Christian Science.
