Testimony Meeting at St. Louis

The Wednesday evening meetings of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in St. Louis, have been well attended, and good testimonies have been given at all of them. The following grateful acknowledgments of benefits received from Christian Science were made at one of the recent meetings.

One testimony was given by a lady who spoke of a young man's healing from sickness and what through Christian Science. She said that this man came to the door at the home of one of her friends, to offer some articles for sale. He stated by way of explanation that he had failed, on account of ill health, to get a position which he had expected to secure, and had undertaken to sell the articles because his supply of money was exhausted. The young man was suffering from rheumatism, his shoes were worn out, and his clothes were not clean. The lady told him that she did not need what he was offering for sale, but that she was in possession of something of which he stood in great need. She lovingly told him about Christian Science healing and gave him Christian Science literature, and he promised to come again in two weeks. He returned and told the lady that he was entirely healed from rheumatism. He had secured a good position in a railroad office, and was dressed in a new business suit.

"My early experience with Christian Science was right along the line of having my great necessities met," said a gentleman who was the next to give his testimony. He stated that when Christian Science was first brought to his attention, he was in a deplorable state of mind; that he had been out of employment for eight or nine months, and had become very much disheartened. "I had lost confidence," he said, "in myself and all faith in my ability when Christian Science was brought to my attention, and I called on a practitioner who was also a teacher. As she told me of Christian Science and how it unfolds the omnipotence of God to the human sense, I became anxious to know more about this truth. Accordingly I accepted an invitation to take a course of class teaching, although I had not a penny wherewith to meet the payment for this instruction. Just about that time I secured a position which I kept for a short time, although it was not satisfactory. No sooner had the class teaching in Christian Science been brought to a close, than I got a better position, and I have always ascribed this success to God's provision. Since that time I have always had a sufficiency, and I am confident that Christian Science reveals to us that God will meet every human need." The speaker also called attention to the fact that our greatest need is a knowledge of God and love for our neighbor. That it uncovers any spiritual barrenness and reveals the means of growth, and that it acquaints us with the privilege of claiming and taking possession of that which God has ordained should be ours.
