Communion Service at Concord, N. H.
The Concord Monitor
The semi-annual communion and reception of members was fittingly observed yesterday (June 8) by First Church, of Christ, Scientist. Christian Science Hall was crowded with the local members and their visiting friends. The floral decorations were profuse and beautifully arranged.
The subject of the discourse was "Sacrament," and as is customary in all Christian Science Churches, consisted of readings from the Bible and from the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy.
At this service the tenets of the Mother Church in Boston, which were written by Mrs. Eddy, are read, the last of which is so in keeping with the character of the day that it fitted beautifully into the sacred occasion. It is as follows:—
"We solemnly promise to strive, watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus, to love one another, and to be meek, merciful, just, and pure."
Visitors were present from London, England; the Bahama Islands; Denver, Col.; New York City, and elsewhere. Ten new members were received into the church.
