The Theory of Partial Sonship

A Prominent religious weekly has recently been arguing for the essential brotherhood of man, and in a citation of Scripture evidence it says :—

"In the opening chapters of Genesis it is declared that God made man in his own image and breathed into him the breath of life.... Surely if this breathing signifies anything, ... it is that man is like God in some fundamental and essential elements of his nature."

A legitimate inference from the phrase, "in some elements of his nature," would be that in other elements man is unlike God, and that this inference is authorized and intended is made clear by this later statement in the same article, "that man is an animal is attested by the study of comparative physiology."
