I should like to tell of an experience which shows the faithful and loving care of our Father when we trust wholly in Him for strength and peace in trouble and sorrow.

One year ago I passed through what, to the senses, is one of the greatest sorrows in this life, when my companion of nearly thirty years was taken from me in almost "the twinkling of an eye." From the first moment, when the shock was so great that I could use no other argument, I repeated over and over again, "God is right here and fills my home, there is no room for sorrow." Thus clinging steadfastly to the Father and listening to no false claim I was given great peace and courage, enabling me to fulfil all duties required at that time in a calm and quiet manner.

Six months later, when Thanksgiving was near, a sense of loneliness came to me which was very hard to overcome, and on Thanksgiving Day this feeling was intensified. Being in a room alone for a short time, I fell into revery and sadness. When it seemed as if I could bear my burden no longer, I heard the patter of little feet, the door was thrown open, and my grandchild of four years looked in and said, "Nana, do you know the first commandment?" Without a moment's hesitation I replied, "What is it, dear?" She sweetly repeated, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Then she closed the door and ran away. The child had been taught the commandment by her aunt for her Sunday School verse. After she had learned it, to please her, she was told to go find grandma and ask her if she knew the first commandment. They were at the front of the house, while I was at the extreme back, a distance of seventy feet, and they had no knowledge of my where-abouts. But the Father sent His message by one of my most precious earthly treasures,—a little child,—to lead me back to the fold where all tears were wiped away and sweet peace was mine.
