The Mid-Week Meeting
The Wednesday evening meetings, established by our Leader, are unique and useful in the working of our Cause, and the progress of students in the solving of individual problems. They fill a place that is useful, both to the Scientists, and to those at present outside of Christian Science. At the Sunday service, we come to get, and getting, we consciously and unconsciously give, for as we are taking in the lesson, our understanding of it is going out, so all are blessed.
At the Wednesday evening meeting we come essentially to give, and here we find that in giving, we are also getting. We come in the spirit of gratitude to tell what Truth has done for us, how it is healing us, mind and body, how it is enabling us, through this understanding, to heal others, and how it is showing us the way to heavenly harmony, and lifting our thought above matter and material laws which never had any right to rule a child of God.
Gratitude engenders a more receptive condition of thought in which the divine energies may be better understood, utilized, and demonstrated. A lack of gratitude closes the receptive avenues of thought, and a doubting, faltering sense ensues, unfavorable to further progress.
