One year ago I was indeed "forlorn and shipwrecked,"...
One year ago I was indeed "forlorn and shipwrecked," to human sense, without friends, and waiting the summons of death with what fortitude I could. I was given up by some of the best specialists in the northwest, who said I was afflicted with a complication of Bright's disease, and tuberculosis of the spine. I was wearing a brace, in the hope of thus gaining strength enough to walk, but after nine months in bed the doctors said I could not get well. Then it was that Christian Science was brought to me by an acquaintance, and I took up the treatment and reading. I have been able to go about, walking ordinary distances, with no trouble, since October, when I took off my brace, and have not worn it since; and from a pale, thin woman, whom all expected to see pass away I a few weeks, am become well and healthy looking, and feel like a new woman. Christian Science has helped me wonderfully, both physically and mentally, lifting me from despondency to hope and joy in life, and I am able to take up with joy the beautiful thought. Words fail me to express my gratitude for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
