The Most Popular Books

The Critic, an illustrated monthly review of literature, published by G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York, in each number gives a list of the most popular books,—that is, the books most read,—at the circulating libraries, free and subscription, in the representative centres of the United States and Canada. They are prepared by the librarians of the libraries mentioned, or under their personal supervision. The record is intended to show what books other than fiction are being read, though the one most-called-for novel is admitted to the list.

In the October number we find thus listed the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in Los Angeles, California, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the November number we find these two cities still thus noted, with Detroit, Michigan, added. We have not yet consulted the later numbers.

We are glad to be able to report so favorably upon our beloved text-book, and we know our friends everywhere will be glad to know of its favorable reception by the reading public. The more people come to know the real value of this book as a spiritual educator and healer of sin and sickness, the more it will be sought for.
