It is just three years since I became interested in Christian Science, and when I look back and see the wonderful change,—what I was then and what I am now,—my heart overflows with gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the understanding, not only for physical healing, but for the uplifting spiritually which I have found in the Bible through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
For ten years I suffered constantly, never knowing what it, was to have a quiet hour or restful sleep, never failing to have sleeping powers under my pillow. I could not read, sew, write, or do anything in all those years. All that a kind, loving husband and friends could do was done. I had no hope of ever getting well; I underwent an operation, but afterward was bound to material means more than ever.
In this despondent, hopeless feeling I went to Kansas City. I had not the least thought I would be benefited by going, but it seems now that God was preparing the way. I was asked to try Christian Science. I was offended to think any one should ask me to try anything so foolish, but I really knew nothing more about it than a few fun-making remarks. After a struggle I decided to give it a trial, for I felt something must be done quickly, and it seemed the last resort.
