Some two or three years ago a Christian Scientist was asked to take an absent case. The patient was a married lady who had been sick for twenty-five years. The husband had not been favorable to Science, but as she wanted it, he become more willing and consented. Upon receiving the letter stating that the Scientist would take the case, he wrote saying. "My wife is unable to write and I write for her. In three days the wife herself wrote saying, "I was going to die previous to this, but now I feel that I am going to live." She improved right along from that time until she was healed.
The husband became more and more interested in Science, and when the children needed help they asked for Christian Science treatment. There was a grandmother in the family who was terribly opposed to Christian Science treatment. The gentleman himself was taken sick. He had been reading Science and Health a good deal and thought he would handle the case himself. The grandmother was continually present, saying, "You will have to have the doctor, you will come to a doctor yet." The Scientist made a call on the patient, calmed his fear, and in two or three days he was ready to go to work again, showing that where he once had no faith, he had declared that it was the Truth and he would stand by it by all means.
