Life is Joy

At a time when I was very much discouraged and depressed a Scientist, to whom I had gone for help, said to me, "Life is joy, just try to realize that Life is joy." At the time I rejected the idea, for it seemed almost impossible to realize Life is joy when life at that time and under existing circumstances was anything but joyful. But what that friend said lifted my thought a little and has been a great help ever since. It may help another.

The Psalms of David are full of rejoicings and praises to God. Paul writes to "rejoice in the Lord always." "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." And so we have every reason to rejoice, because we can prove that "life is joy."

Oh! is it not joy to know that sorrow, sickness, and death are the temporal — the fleeting, and that health and happiness are real and immortal?
