How the Sentinel is Appreciated

To one living on a farm in a newly settled country where adherents to this faith are seldom met, that day each week is dear, when the Christian Science family gather round and pour their words of wisdom, encouragement, and love into his quiet home through the columns of the Sentinel. Yes, it does strengthen us, it does nourish us, it does feed us with the pure wheat when we are wading through the chaff of mortal mind, it does stand guard and keep out the thoughts of evil that are ever ready to rush in and fill the vacuum if Truth and Love be absent. As long as I wish to see the hand of Love laid on the forehead of pain, as long as there are those about me who are parched with a thirst for the Truth whom you can lead to green pastures and still waters, I will say, God bless every hand that is helping to place this paper in our homes.

Vinton Holbrook, Alexandria, S. D.

Often our trials act as a thorn hedge to keep us in the good pasture: but our prosperity is a gap through which we go astray.—Spurgeon.
