Grateful for Spiritual Uplifting
Nearly seven years ago, I became interested in Christian Science. I was not interested by physical healing, although unconsciously, I was being healed. My attention was first attracted while visiting an aunt who is a Christian Scientist. I had just finished High School and found myself on the verge of nervous prostration. One day soon after my arrival, I noticed a Christian Science tract on my aunt's writing desk, a line of which held my attention, and read something like this: "Hold in thought that God is your strength." I remember that a sense of peace followed my effort to do this.
Later on, I began to ask questions and smile at the answers. Finally, I began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." With this effort, I was relieved of threatened nervous break-down, also of a trouble with my eyes from childhood, and likewise a weak back. My first treatment was required nearly two years after, when, for a period of about three days, I had not been able to speak above a whisper. I was relieved in one treatment.
My experience has been full of examples of the healing of Truth, but I wish to speak especially of overcoming weariness. While at my aunt's house one summer, I was helping her with the housework. One morning I had been working very hard, and about eleven o'clock I dropped into a chair nearly exhausted. The first thought was that I should have to lie down, but the thought came, "Why not meet the sense of weariness with Truth?" In not more than fifteen minutes I had mastered it and thought no more of it that day.
