Candid Opinion of an Honest Seeker

It may interest our friends to know the candid opinion of an honest seeker for Good. A visitor attended our church last spring and requested a conversation with a Christian Scientist.

She wished to know if her eyesight could be helped so that glasses could be dispensed with. After receiving the answer, "All things are possible with God, and all can prove this Truth," the visitor remarked, "I would not care a bit about my eyes if I could just have half as lovely a disposition as a friend who is a member of your church. She was treated in Christian Science and restored to health, and from being an ordinary, not over good-tempered girl, she is now so lovely that we long to have her with us all the time. She claims all the credit is due to Christian Science." Assurance was given that if the life of a Christian Scientist is faithfully lived, one could not avoid having the same sweet disposition as her friend.

"Do you know," said she, "when I came here, I had no idea what a Christian Science Church was like, and when I saw such a bright, beautiful church so crowded with refined, intelligent, well-dressed people, I felt so small and mean I wished I could get out of sight. My! but you must have all rich people here,—and such a collection! I never saw so much money before; every plate was piled so full of bills the ushers had to put some in their pockets. It is all very wonderful to me."
