What Christian Science has done for Me
I deem it a great pleasure to testify to the harmony Christian Science has brought into my life. About two years ago I was stricken with paralysis of the right side. I was wellnigh helpless and no words can express the gloom and darkness that settled on my mind. I longed to die, for that was the only way that I could see out of it all. My dear friends and kind physician did all in their power to help me, and as I looked in their kind faces and heard their loving words of sympathy, I knew they would quickly and gladly, restore me to health and happiness could they have done so, but the clouds would not lift; and then it was that one of my kind neighbors, with her heart full of love and sympathy for me, called one day and wished me to try Christian Science. I told her I had no faith in it, but would try anything.
I commenced reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I did not understand it much at first, but by the first few treatments I was cured of dyspepsia, from which I had suffered all my life, and as I read on, the dark clouds began to lift. The Truth that makes free began to dawn, but I had many despondent hours and some days would resolve not to read the book any more; but I could not leave it, and as I read on the light would come.
The kind and loving words of my healer, the many promises she brought me from the Bible, and the light thrown upon it by Science and Health let me out of this wilderness of gloom and helplessness into green pastures where living waters are ever flowing out from the throne of God. Instead of death I have found Life eternal and always harmonious. Instead of gloom and darkness. I have found joy and light. "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell," for God is All-in-all.
