The Lectures
There was a large attendance at the Tacoma Theatre Monday evening (March 12), to hear the lecture on Christian Science. Judge William G. Ewing was introduced by John A. Parker, who said:—
Ladies and Gentlemen:—To many in this audience tonight the speaker requires no introduction, he having visited Tacoma some years ago in company with Vice-President Stevenson and party, and at that time many of the Tacoma people had the pleasure of meeting and hearing him speak, but to those who may not have met him, I desire to say that he has made a reputation throughout the East wherever he has gone as a public speaker second to none.
As a judge upon the bench, the position held by him for several years in Chicago, it is said of him by those who know him best, by those who have practised in his court and live within his jurisdiction, that no man occupying a judicial position has had a stronger hold upon the hearts of the people than your speaker here to-night.
