Is it Worth While?
"Yes , it must be beautiful to believe in Christian Science, but you must have to work so hard, and it seems so much to do!"
This was said in a hall filled with art-students,—young men and women whose highest privilege and greatest joy would be to devote their lives to painting, and this hall might be filled many times with young men who are willing to spend months, and even years, in the severe physical training which will enable them to gain a great foot-ball victory; by those who would endure privations and toil to become singers and musicians; by men and women who would devote themselves to literature, or natural science; and, alas! many, many times by those who, within the last week, have given up their lives for their country.
And what is the purpose of Christian Scientists? For what are they working? They would lighten the burden of sin and sorrow pressing down so heavily upon humanity. They would overcome sin, sickness, intemperance, poverty.
