Healed of a Disease Pronounced Incurable

I was healed about three years ago of a disease that was pronounced incurable by a number of the best physicians. I had become despondent, believing God had sent this affliction upon me. I had been reared in a deeply pious home; taught from earliest childhood that God sent all trials for our good, and when my three little ones were taken I tried to bow in sweet submission to His will, but it was hard to believe that our heavenly Father, who is Love, could so afflict His children.

Under this terrible strain I lost my health, and even then I tried to be resigned to His will; but I grew worse and worse. Then I became rebellious, feeling that it was too much. I said I was willing to die, but would not be an invalid. It was at this time I was led to look into Christian Science. I was urged by my husband to consult a healer. He said, "You have tried everything else, why not try Christian Science." He knew nothing about it, but one of his friends had been healed by Christian Science. He did not know what it was, but said there must be something in it. I put him off from day to day, feeling that it was only time thrown away, but he insisted, and to please my husband, I finally went to see a healer.

I had been brought up on calomel and blue mass, my father being a physician of the old school; so I felt that I was going on a fool's errand.
