A Demonstration in Dentistry

Christian Science has done so much for me, that I feel constrained to give one demonstration of the many I have been able to make through the understanding of Truth. I feel that but for Christian Science I should not be here to write this. How thankful we should be for this blessed Truth that teaches us we can at all times abide "under the shadow of the Almighty," if we will only conform our lives to Good.

The demonstration I desire to relate is one in dentistry. Two teeth that were broken off had given me trouble for more than two years, and I had a great fear about having them taken out. It became necessary to do something, so one afternoon, without trying to overcome my fear, I asked a healer to go with me to the dentist's office. She did so and I made an appointment with the dentist. I asked the healer to go with me again. She consented and I went to meet her at the appointed time, but she was not there. While waiting for her I picked up a Journal and read an article that reminded me of my duty to do all I could for myself before asking for help. I went to work for myself and realized the perfect Love that knows no fear. The Scientist came and we went to the dentist, and I sat down in the chair without fear. The dentist wanted to use remedies for deadening the pain in extracting the teeth, but I assured him that I would be all right without the remedies. He broke the teeth in pieces, but I did not move or speak, for there was no pain. When he was through I told him I was not hurt, and he said I was a brave soldier. My gums did not bleed and were not sore.
