The Scholar

Address of Professor J. R. Mosley at Athens, Ga.

Atlanta Constitution

Professor J. R. Mosley, of Mercer University, delivered an address to the students of the University of Georgia, yesterday (March 3), by invitation of the chancellor. The occasion was significant of the unity of feeling existing between the two institutions represented by the speaker and the audience. The Athenians gave a cordial welcome to the Macon scholar, and their hearty and long-continued applause at the close of the address was an eloquent testimony to their appreciation of the masterly address.

Professor Mosley's subject was "The Scholar," and he treated it under the three topics: First, the characteristics of the scholar; Second, the activities of the scholar, and Third, the inheritance of the scholar.

A synopsis of the address would not do justice to its keen insight and rare literary merit. But a few paragraphs may be quoted to show the spirit and tone pervading the whole utterance.
