Our Lighthouses
Habsburger Strasse 12, Berlin W., November 25, 1899.
Editors of the Sentinel:—After a long journey on the great, storm-tossed ocean the welcome sight of the lighthouses, shining forth their messages of ever-watchful care, warning of the hidden rocks that we may escape them, and giving sweet prophecy of the safe harbor to which they guide us, brings a joy unspeakable to the homeward bound traveler. Well do I remember when nearing the end of my first long voyage those beautiful lights that shone forth in a dark night. And as, standing apart from the others, I gazed at them, there went up from my heart a prayer of thanksgiving, and my eyes were filled with tears of joy.
Our Sentinel and Journal are our lighthouses, ever brighter and brighter; pointing out each unseen danger, and lighting our pathway with constant messages of love and guidance. For these glorious gifts my heart is filled with thanksgiving to God, to our precious Mother high in her signal tower, and to those tireless watchers and workers who keep these lamps trimmed and burning—our faithful editors.
