Chronic Catarrh Healed
A little less than one year ago, after suffering for many years from chronic catarrh of the nose, throat, stomach, and bowels, with the ghastly horrors of indigestion and rheumatism, and having exhausted material means of relief, I was urged by a brother railroad official to investigate Christian Science, something I had never before thought of doing and which was at that time far from my inclination. I felt much regret for my friend's weakness but sought to word my reply so as not to offend. He returned literature and a letter that I would have considered beautiful had it been upon another subject. In answering this letter (I was at a southern health resort at the time), it occurred to me that a sensible man would investigate his subject before making a serious argument.
I sent to a bookstore for some work on Christian Science. They had none, but I obtained some St. Louis papers which contained a series of sermons delivered by each of two prominent orthodox clergymen against Christian Science. These, thought I, will enable me to put a quietus on my friend, but instead of the anticipated result, their statements and their quotations from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," led me straight into the Truth.
I began treatment at once and within a week returned home and to work. My changed appearance has caused much surprise among my friends, several of whom are members of the medical profession. I have performed more physical and mental work than for the previous two years. It has been accomplished easily and without fatigue or worry, and I am sure in a manner more satisfactory to the railroad company.
