Healed Physically and Mentally
A lady who had long been a sufferer from stomach troubles, and had given up all hope of ever being well again, came to Quincy, as she said and her friends thought, to die. A short time after her arrival, she went to spend a few days with friends who were Christian Scientists, taking her material remedies, which she hoped would relieve her of intense suffering. Nothing was said to her about giving them up. In a few days she gave them up of her own accord, and asked for help in Science. When she came she was so weak she had to be almost carried from the carriage to the house; she could only eat certain things, and those very sparingly. After the first treatment she ate heartily of whatever she liked, and without the least disturbance of any kind. In two days she walked a mile without feeling the least fatigue. In a few weeks she returned to her home in a neighboring state, a well woman, to the great surprise and joy of friends who supposed they had taken their last leave of her. What a God is ours, when a little understanding of Him will accomplish such wonders!
Another lady was sorely afflicted by the loss of a son who was just coming into manhood. As he had neither made profession of religion nor united with the church she was so distressed over it, believing in the doctrine of eternal punishment, that reason was almost dethroned. She attended our Wednesday evening meeting and took Science treatment. She returned to her home and in a few weeks she wrote she was healed physically, mentally, and spiritually. To use her own language, she saw how, listening to temptation, she had been cheated out of the greatest boon given to mortals—"the joy of the Lord." Now she rests in perfect peace.—S., Quincy, Ill.
