Sowing Beside All Waters

With a heart overflowing with love and gratitude for all that Christian Science has done and is doing for me and for the whole world, I wish to tell of a very beautiful experience which came to me over two years ago. I had been visiting in another state, and on the homeward journey, it was my very good fortune to make the acquaintance of a lovely young woman from Michigan. During the hours we spent together, she told me of her school life, of travels in this and foreign lands, and was seemingly as happy and well satisfied with the pleasures of the world as one could be.

All this time I had an unutterable longing to tell her of the joy and peace which filled my life because of Christian Science. Error said, "She will not care to listen," but Good governed, and I asked if she had heard anything of Christian Science. Instantly she was all attention, and said, "Yes, I have heard of it, but know nothing of it. Are you a Christian Scientist? Tell me about it." I told her of some of the beautiful instances of healing, both spiritual and physical, of which I personally knew. Then she most sorrowfully told me of her dear mother, who had been many years a hopeless sufferer; not hopeless I assured her, in a land of Christian Science; but she asked, "Do you believe that Christian Science can cure where the most skilful physicians fail?" I answered, "I do not believe, I know it." We soon separated, each taking the other's address.

About five weeks after I received the following letter:—
