Reports of Healing

Mercury

It was the writer's privilege, this week, to attend the regular Wednesday evening meeting at the Church of Christ, Scientist, 109 Fourth Street. There was a goodsized gathering of bright and happy people. In fact, this is one of the most noticeable features of Christian Science, the believers are always happy and contented. The order of service was the same used in all Christian Science churches. The meeting opened with a hymn, followed by reading from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy. After silent prayer, followed by the Lord's Prayer and a hymn, the First Reader of the church, James E. Brierly, C.S.D., gave all present an invitation to tell what the Christ-Truth had done for them, physically and spiritually.

A young lady at once arose and briefly said: "I am very happy to be here and to give my testimony to what Christian Science has shown me. I became interested on account of the spiritual help. The logic and truth of its teachings impressed me from the first, and I thank my Heavenly Father that through Mrs. Eddy's books I have found the understanding of the Bible—that is now an illumined book—whose promises are all true.

The next speaker was a noted ex-newspaper artist from Boston, who said, "I am happy to bring to this church greetings from the church in Roxbury. I can report a rapid growth there, and before a great while they will be obliged to seek larger quarters in a church building of their own." He spoke of the science of Christian Science and how an earnest student could find to his satisfaction that it is logical and correct.
