A man who sent presents to many of his friends and relatives at Christmas, said some time afterward, "Why, I forgot mother."

Forgot mother! His mother never forgot him. The Bible suggests that monsters in the shape of mothers may. She may be old and blind or deaf, wrinkled and feeble, a care, and may seem a burden where love is not; but no son who can be truly said to have manhood will either forget his mother or be ungrateful to her. More likely will he be to indulge a hope against nature, that his mother may live as long as he. Such will know the inwardness and outwardness of these lines which recently appeared in the Christian Register:—
