The Spirit of Truth

How often it is asked, how do Christian Scientists heal? and how incredulous seems the inquirer when we rightly answer that it is not Christian Scientists, but Christian Science that heals. Christian Science cannot fail to heal, for it is the Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of Truth is the same now that it was nineteen hundred years ago. It healed then, it heals now. Yea, it always healed and always will, till the last mortal fault in human thought is destroyed. It may be asked, What is the Spirit of Truth? Jesus called it the Comforter that leadeth into all Truth. "And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free" — that is, free from sin, disease, and death — free from all error. Again, a knowledge of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, is eternal life.

Thus a knowledge of Truth and a knowledge of God has the same effect, because God is Truth. Again he tells us in John, 4 : 24, that God is Spirit (see marginal note in revised version), and the beloved disciple in I John, 5 : 6, says that the Spirit is Truth.

If Spirit is Truth, then Truth is Spirit — God.
