Desire for Tobacco Destroyed

Last May business took me to Chicago, and on Wednesday evening I attended a meeting at the First Church on Drexel Boulevard. I was not a Scientist at the time, but I was greatly interested in the testimonials. I had been endeavoring to give up the habit of smoking, but with indifferent success. It occurred to me as I listened to the experiences of others, that I, too, might get help here, and almost before I knew what I was doing I arose and stated my case, asking help in my struggle. After that I did not get the same enjoyment from my cigar, and gradually the desire left me; to-day I am free — the Truth has made me free.

I shall never forget the impression made upon me by the quotation from page 490 of Science and Health by Mary Baker G. Eddy, emblazoned in letters of gold on the wall to the right of the pulpit: "Divine Love always has met, and always will meet, every human need." I seemed to absorb their meaning at a glance and they have been my constant recourse in time of need ever since, as they have become the constant recourse of wife and children.
