Among the Churches

The hour of the Sunday School session at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Fifteenth Street, between Portland and Park Avenues, was taken up yesterday (Sunday, December 3) with a special programme of dedication. The church was well filled for the morning services, and the congregation and a hundred children in addition filed into the Sunday School rooms at twelve o'clock.

The occasion of the dedication was the completion at a cost of twenty-five hundred dollars of an addition to the Sunday School room. When the church was build, about two years ago, the rooms then devoted to the Sunday School were amply large for all demands, but the two years have been so prosperous that more room became a prime necessity. Funds were secured, and two months ago the work was commenced. Everything seemed to favor the work, from the weather to the contractors and the firms from which supplies were procured, and when the Sunday School assembled yesterday everything was completed.

The children of the Sunday School, the enrolment being nearly one hundred, and all under the age of fifteen, had collected one hundred and fifty dollars of the money needed for the improvement, and the dedication ceremonies were entirely by them. The programme consisted of songs and recitations by members of the school and by the twelve classes into which the school is divided.
