New: France elections: Hollande wins over Sarkozy

Francois Hollande, a Socialist who ran a centrist campaign, has won the presidency of France, defeating the conservative incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy. Hollande’s election could re-position France’s approach to the euro debt crisis, as Hollande said in his victory speech that austerity is no longer inevitable. Hollande favors leavening an austerity-only policy with economic growth fueled by government spending.

While there may seem to be many contending opinions for the best political and financial solutions to the euro debt crisis, prayer has the power to reveal an intelligent way forward that will bless everyone. “For unity in the Eurozone” shows how we can turn to God as the one “universal divine Mind of all” for inspired solutions.

New: 9/11 mastermind faces trial

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, and four other co-defendants were brought before a US military judge Saturday for arraignment in what could become the most important US war crimes tribunal since Nuremberg. The trial, which is taking place under the military commission system at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will be closely watched by the world to ensure evidence obtained from torture is left out of the courtroom and that the defendants receive a fair trial.

As the trial moves forward, the need may be not solely for human justice, but for true healing. “Holding guard and healing post 9/11” gives specific examples of how the Sentinel can bring healing to some of the most challenging issues of our time. Our prayers can always support justice, peace, and salvation for all of humanity.

New: Greece town turns to barter system and alternative currency

As Greece struggles to find a solution to its economic crisis, the port town of Volos has turned to a barter system and alternative currency to help its citizens get by. The local currency (called TEMS in Greek) is traded via offerings made to an online system, where people can sign up and offer services to others in need, and in turn earn credits to cash in for things they need.

Europe is more than the Euro” shows how any nation’s stability depends on something deeper and ultimately more spiritual than its currency. Spiritual qualities like “logic, beauty, creativity, artistic excellence, depth of thought, adventurous spirits, and genius are reflections of Mind, the supreme intelligence of the universe,” and these are reflected by each nation. These qualities are the things that truly help a nation – or a community – to thrive.
