UN observers reached Qubair, after being prevented from reaching the area on Thursday. Qubair is a town in Syria’s Hama province where a massacre was carried out on Wednesday. The UN observers will try to determine what happened by finding bodies and recording eyewitness testimony. UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon warned earlier this week that the country is in danger of sliding into civil war.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said this week that the central US bank would do “whatever necessary” to cushion the country’s economy from financial troubles in the Eurozone. The Fed is considering buying more Treasury bonds to encourage investors to buy stocks and other assets, and taking other steps to support job creation.
