When bombs went off in London

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

On July 7, 2005, my wife phoned me from her office in London to say there had been an explosion in the street where she worked. I was at work in Luton, 35 miles away. I turned on the radio and learned that bombs had been detonated in three sections of London’s underground system. A double-decker bus was also wrecked on a city street. All transportation was halted.

Despite the resulting chaos, we both resolved to carry on with our activities and not give in to terrorism.

In addition to going forward with the day, I also took some time for prayer about the situation. I strongly asserted the constancy of God’s ever-present love for His offspring. Nobody can be outside of His loving care.
