Tell me something new about God

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

A few years ago, our daughter, who was very young at the time, said something I still haven’t forgotten. I was putting her to bed, helping her finish up her prayers, answering her questions, listening to her stories, when she quietly turned to me and said, “Tell me something about God that I don’t know!”

It was said with the wonderful humility and expectation that is so natural to children. Her yearning to know more about God impressed me. She was seeking a closer feeling of comfort and peace.

And who hasn’t felt the need to feel more comfort and peace? Don’t we all yearn to learn—even a little more—about our divine Friend, our Father-Mother God?
