Immortal "stars" in God's constellation

Written in the aftermath of the earthquake that hit South Asia on October 8, 2005.

We recently opened an envelope in our office and little gold stars spilled out all over the floor. In a handwritten addendum to her typewritten note, the sender explained, “I sent you a good bunch of stars so when you pick them off the floor it will help you remember what you are!”

We’re still picking stars off the floor a week later—and this loving gesture has served as a timely reminder in the light of the tragic earthquake that struck Pakistan and India this weekend, including the Kashmiri regions.
