Prayer stopped sleepwalking in its tracks

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

There was a time when our daughter would wake me up three or four times a night—coming in for a kiss goodnight. But the next day, she never remembered coming to my room at all, because she was sleepwalking.

I was concerned for her safety, both at home and when we stayed in hotels. At first, I thought being extra careful to lock doors and shut windows would be sufficient. But when I watched her walk downstairs late one evening and try to unlock the front door, I began to pray more seriously.

I had a breakthrough for my prayers when a relative reminded me of my own sleepwalking as a child. This alerted me to pray about our daughter’s spiritual heritage. I reasoned that God is the only cause and that He is constantly caring for His beloved child—and that included not just my daughter but me and my husband, too.
