Never without a home

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

Although for most of the year I live in my home country of Ghana, I spend about four months in New York City. At one point while I was in New York, I had to find a new place to live, and there wasn’t a lot of time to do it.

I’d had many experiences of trusting God, and so I turned my thoughts completely to the all-power of God, divine Mind. In prayer, I realized that my home is not a country, a tent, a building or a shelter. Home is my consciousness of God and my own identity as His spiritual child. Thinking of home in spiritual terms, I affirmed the qualities I felt it naturally includes—confidence, joy, comfort, peace, harmony and the healing power of divine Love. It’s a peaceful habitation, safe, full of laughter and the joy of living.

These ideas inspired me and convinced me that I could rely on the all-power of God, Spirit. I realized that man—and that term includes both men and women—is never without a home. We are at home with our Father-Mother God, where direction, intelligence and harmony exist for everyone.
