The touch of God

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

When sounds and scenes of harsh, cold hate
Would seem to blast all good away,
The touch of God subdues the rage
Just as it did in ancient days.

When evil seems to overcome,
To rob our peace and block our way,
The anguished heart gets lifted up—
Our Mother God is here to stay.

When deadly thoughts seem here to rule,
To hide the light of Spirit’s rays,
Supreme is God, His promise true.
His love will shine through darkened days.

And so can we proclaim Love's power
As sovereign through the threatening hour.
The broken shards of shattered hope
By God will be restored, made whole.
