Two healings in one
One day I started to get sick. My throat hurt. Then I started experiencing more cold symptoms. The weird thing was, they wouldn’t go away.
While I wasn’t feeling well, I noticed that I kept thinking about a friendship that had fallen apart. Things hadn’t ended well between us, and later, I’d found out she’d spread some rumors about me, which had been upsetting.

I kept having thoughts like, “This friendship ending could impact my school life and my other friendships. And I might not have any friends if this person spreads more gossip.” I felt so much fear that this broken friendship could ruin my life.
One night, as I was getting ready for bed, I got an angel message—an idea from God that is positive, profound, and helpful—to pull out a recent issue of the Sentinel. I decided to read one of the poems. The end of it said, “I awake,” which I loved (see Peter Ward, “But then . . . ,” June 26, 2023). So I thought that maybe I should ask God what I needed to know about the friendship situation, or what I needed to be spiritually “awake” to. Immediately, the thought came, “I am not fearful.”
That made me think of a Bible passage I’d memorized when I was in middle school: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10). As I prayed with this verse, I started to feel an amazing sense of love, and I knew it was God’s love that was encompassing me because it made me feel safe, protected, and loved. I felt my worries and fears melt away. Within minutes, the cold symptoms almost completely vanished, and pretty soon I was healed.
Although this friend and I aren’t as close as we used to be, we treat each other with kindness, and the rumors have stopped. I’m grateful for this healing experience and what it taught me about God’s love.
