Back to Basics

How are we measuring time?

Can we really think differently about time? In this author’s own words, “We have the opportunity to change, step by step, the way we measure our activities, tasks, and achievement of goals—from the time they take to the good accomplished.”
As we think about New Year’s resolutions, consider this: “The best thing to bring about whatever changes we seem to need is the spiritual improvement that enables us to see our true, timeless selfhood—to see ourselves as God made and maintains us.”
How a classic Christmas carol inspired new spiritual insights.

The Christmas star

Amid the other stars it shines,
establishing the way
for every one of us to find
the light of perfect day ...
Exploring what Christmas is really about, this author writes, “In this season of celebration, beyond simply commemorating a historical event, we can make a commitment to better emulating Christ Jesus.”

You, too

Jesus, “moved with compassion”
fed and healed and blessedand as those disciples
who have gone before
you too
child-like in your hope, seek
to lay the foundation
of Christly ...

Love’s transparency

From deep within I hope
   for You,
O Spirit, rest on me.
A stillness, an abiding peace,
Unfolding …
In Christian Science we learn to work out our own salvation—which includes praying daily for ourselves—and how to lean on God, not on a person, for healing.
Every challenging situation is an opportunity to spiritualize our view.

New vistas of God as Principle

The power of that idea—that Principle is “sufficient for all emergencies”—had left its mark on my thought, and the symptoms quickly disappeared.

Why we still need the Bible

In our practice of Christian healing today, it’s encouraging to know that we’re not alone.
