God’s message is all good

For the lesson titled "Spirit" from January 31– February 6, 2011

This Bible Lesson, titled “Spirit,” emphasizes the fact that the one Spirit is always communicating its message to each of us. Spirit is not only communicating with us, but also moving us to act.

The concept of Spirit as “all-good”—and our duty to honor that goodness—is evident in the first great commandment as it is given in Deuteronomy, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might” (Deut. 6:5, citation 6). Mary Baker Eddy calls this command “the El Dorado of Christianity” (Science and Health, p. 9, cit. 6). El Dorado was a mythical country in which gold and precious stones were to be found in tremendous abundance. Metaphorically El Dorado stands for the ultimate source of treasure.

Spirit is always communicating its message to each of us.
