Don’t be fooled!
One night my tummy hurt really bad. And I told my mom. We prayed together. After I got into bed, Mom read a story to me from My Treasury.* This is a book with all different stories for children. Mom picked a story called “The Whale in the Pail.” It was about a man getting hypnotized. Someone made him believe there was a whale in a pail. So this man that was hypnotized tried to pull the whale out of the pail. He worked really hard at it. He didn’t need to do that, because there really was no whale.
My favorite part of the story was the question, “How did the man ‘get rid’ of the whale?” And the answer was, “He simply woke up!”* It made me laugh!
Mom explained how error fools us into thinking we have something bad, like a tummyache. Then we think we have to work really hard to get rid of it. But God made us perfect. God made everything good, and God doesn’t make mistakes. God had made me good and well. I could see how this was true. And I kept thinking to myself, “Wake up!”
