Cycling without pain
In late 2009, I had arranged to do a charity bike ride of about 60 kilometres. Before the ride I was having a conversation with somebody who said that I should wear the correct clothing because otherwise, I could experience rubbing in my legs, which would be very painful. I had been on many rides before without wearing such clothing and had never had any problems of that sort. So I just put on the clothes I would normally wear to go cycling.
In order to get to the starting point of the ride, where I would meet a co-cyclist, I needed to cycle to the city railway station and then get a train to another town. Before I start my day, I usually read the Christian Science Bible Lesson. However, because of the rush to leave my home for the ride, I had decided to read the Lesson on the train.
I set off on my bike to the station. About halfway there I started to experience rubbing in my legs. It was very painful. Indeed so painful that when I arrived, I was doubtful as to whether I would be able to do the ride that day if it continued. And it was too late to buy any of the clothing which had been suggested to me.
