What a home run Anthony Whitehouse hit in his September 20 Sentinel article "Children in disasters: Prayer lifts trauma." He pointed out that children, as well as adults, can rise above the trauma of disasters like those that have affected Haiti, Chile, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China.
He cites the example Jesus sets for us when he was asked by two of his disciples (who didn't recognize him after the crucifixion) if he was aware of "recent events" in Jerusalem. Jesus replied, "What things?" (Luke 24:19). Mr. Whitehouse goes on to say, "To me, this question implies that he had to have completely put the crucifixion behind him." This should set the pace for all of us!
