NO SURGERY NEEDED

First published in O Arauto da Ciencia Crista, the Portuguese edition of The Herald of Christian Science.

One night, my son Leonardo began to complain about severe chest pains. He had just come back from a soccer game at Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, where he had done a lot of screaming and cheering for his team. So I thought his complaints were natural, but I began to pray to acknowledge God's uninterrupted harmony and His care for my son. However, my husband and my daughter, a medical student, thought it best that we take him to the hospital.

In the emergency room, the doctor informed us that Leonardo had ruptured his esophagus and that the surgical team on duty would perform the surgery. At 2 o'clock in the morning they took Leonardo to get a tomography to find out where the rupture was located.
