RETIRE TO WHAT?
Retirement doesn't mean that we need to retreat, diminish, or decline in our activities, but rather to go forth with the expectancy of receiving God's goodness, trusting that He will show us the best way to live our lives.
After I stopped working as editor for a large music company, I listened for ideas from God as to what to do next. I found this passage in the Bible: "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19).
I was inspired to write some compositions for solo instruments to be played by high-school and college students. I did this, and a publisher accepted ten of these works. I also was led to contact a friend who was the director of the music department at a nearby community college. He needed a pianist on his faculty. My prayers were answered.
